Arbors takes shape in Summerlin

The Arbors, the westernmost village to date within the Summerlin master-planned community, has experienced heavy construction activity and home sales, according to Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., the developer.
"Like many Summerlin villages, The Arbors is designed to offer a wide range of homes perfect for families, couples and singles," Van Epp said. "It also features a full complement of amenities, such as parks, trails, schools, houses of worship, and even a new community center operated by the city of Las Vegas that is set to open this fall. Best of all, The Arbors' higher elevation provides ... mountain and city views to many of its residents."
Single-family properties range from 967 to 4,244 square feet. Townhomes and condominiums range from 997 to 1,847 square feet.
Residents have use of The Arbors Tennis & Play Park, which features a tennis club with five lighted courts, along with a tricycle track called Arborville.
Construction of a sports park is set for this fall. Scheduled to open in late 2000, the facility will be a joint-use facility local government and Hughes Corp.
It will incorporate football, soccer, baseball and softball fields; eight tennis courts; and six outdoor basketball courts and a pool.
"As an integrated community for all generations, Summerlin is being designed as a place where residents can truly live, work and play," Van Epp said. "The Arbors village is quickly taking shape to make that possible."
Summerlin features seven golf courses, nine city parks, more than 40 neighborhood parks, more than 40 completed miles of the 100-mile Summerlin Trail system, a dozen schools, shopping centers, business parks, medical centers and more than 230 model homes.
Homes in the community are priced from the mid-$80,000s to more than $500,000. Custom lots from one-quarter acre to one-third of an acre are priced from $80,000 to $300,000.
Pre-designed custom homes built by featured builders are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million.
To visit the sales centers, take Summerlin Parkway to Town Center Drive, go north to Hillwood Drive and turn right. Or, take Sahara Avenue to Blue Willow Lane, west of Hualapai Way, and turn south. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
