Lake Las Vegas hosts golf school
Officials at Lake Las Vegas Resort have announced the addition of a Nicklaus/Flick Golf School at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Reflection Bay Golf Club.
Formed by Nicklaus and Jim Flick in 1991, the school features instructors who help students solve golfing problems, according to John Herndon, director of golf.
"We are excited and honored to be a host facility of Nicklaus/Flick," Herndon said. "Now Lake Las Vegas Resort offers golfers the ultimate golf experience on one of Nevada's premier courses."
For $2,195, participants receive: three days of personalized instruction on all facets of the game including full swing, short game, course management, fitness and nutrition; green and cart fees; "Master Golf Workbook" written by Nicklaus, Flick and Ken Bowden; videotape analysis of their golf swing; closing presentation; a skills contest; golf equipment evaluation; unlimited range practice; a diploma signed by Nicklaus and Flick; a gift package; and breakfast, lunch and refreshments daily.
Classes are scheduled Sept. 10-12; Oct. 8-10 and 29-31; Nov. 5-7; and Dec. 3-5 and 10-12.
The golf club is one of two courses at the master-planned community, the SouthShore Golf Club being the other.
This 550-acre, guard-gated Reflection Bay community offers golf, tennis, sailing, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, and a yacht and beach club.
The Mediterranean-themed development is priced from the low $300,000s to $1.75 million for custom and estate home sites.
PortaCielo offers 72 homes in three floor plans with customizing opportunities. The homes range from 2,460 to 3,500 square feet. Prices begin in the upper $400,000s, plus additional lot premiums.
Amenities include French doors, pedestal-style sinks, granite counter tops, island kitchens, fireplaces and owner suites with walk-in closets.
The opening of PortoFino, an offering of 50 waterfront homes, is planned.
Other facilities in the community include the Reflection Bay Golf & Beach Club and the waterside La Chandele restaurant at Reflection Bay. Proposed facilities include hotels, European-style gaming, spa facilities, at least four 18-hole golf courses, a retail village and restaurants.
MonteCatini offers multi-acre home sites which are priced from $2 million to $5.8 million.
A gated development of 52 home sites, some with golf course views, is planned. Prices will start at $265,000.
The first resort to open on the north shore will be the 496-room Moroccan-style Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort. It will feature two-story windows, loggias, ironwork, a tiled roof and a fountain courtyard.
The master-planned community is being developed by Transcontinental Properties Inc.
To visit, take Lake Mead Drive, seven miles east of Boulder Highway, to Lake Las Vegas Parkway. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
