Taiwan natives cater to Asians

Taiwan natives William and Annie On, a husband-and-wife team working for Century 21 MoneyWorld, help Asian clients buy and sell property in Las Vegas.
"The majority of the people we work with are Asian," Annie On said. "Their first step when they move to this country is to buy a home, and later many buy property, like apartments or additional homes, as investments.
"One of the biggest problems for our clients is the language barrier, so we're able to help them by translating. Usually they are unfamiliar with the paperwork involved in a transaction, so we're present at everything, from going to a design center if they buy a new home to the walk through and the closing."
William On speaks English as well as Cantonese, Mandarin, Taiwanese and Vietnamese.
The Ons met at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. They have been working in real estate for five years.
"It's very rewarding," Annie On said. "We like the challenge of working with a lot of different people, and each client has different needs.
"When our clients move into a new house and then call and say, `We're happy -- thank you so much,' the extra work we do for them is worth it."
She said the Asian community is growing in Las Vegas because of the stable job market.
The Ons enjoy working for the realty firm.
"Their customers trust and depend on them to do more than provide real estate services," Mike West, president of the firm said.
Century 21 MoneyWorld has five locations in the Las Vegas Valley.
