Ex-Californians choose Westbury

Former Southern California residents Tim and Rose Lotspeich searched valleywide for a new home before deciding on Westbury, a Trophy Homes neighborhood in the southwest area.
"I have been familiar with the Las Vegas area for years and preferred the west side of town," said Tim Lotspeich, an executive at a rental company. "We looked at many new neighborhoods but continually found ourselves returning to Westbury because it offered the most attractive floor plans, better features and much greater overall value."
Westbury is located within the guard-gated, European-style Queensridge community. Floor plans range from 2,382 to 3,466 square feet with as many as six bedrooms and four baths.
"We purchased a single-story plan that has all of the space and luxury we wanted," Lotspeich said. "As an example, we own a large bedroom set and the master suite in this home is huge, accommodating even our largest furnishings. The kitchen and family room have high ceilings, which open the home up and enhance the elegant architectural design.
"We also like having a two-car garage on one side of our home and a single-car garage on the other side. I can park my golf cart in the one-car garage and can drive right out and onto the golf course," he said.
The single- and two-story homes are priced from the low $270,000s. Customizing options include expanded family rooms, craft rooms, expanded dens and morning rooms, and attics.
"Trophy Homes allows you to modify and customize your selected floor plan," Lotspeich said. "This creates a sense of living in a custom neighborhood, where no two homes are exactly alike."
Michael Hutchings, sales manager for the builder, said buying a home at Westbury is a good investment.
"Most notably, you can actually purchase a luxurious home in Westbury for less than you would pay for a custom-home site in Queensridge right now," Hutchings said. "For your investment, you get not only land, but an elegantly crafted semicustom home in one of the valley's most desirable residential communities."
Interiors feature raised-panel doors, fireplaces, laundry rooms with sinks, oak cabinets, mirrored wardrobe doors and gas dryer hook-ups.
Kitchens are appointed with granite counter tops, cabinets in a choice of finishes, pantries and appliances.
Owner suites provide walk-in closets, cultured-marble vanities, and separate tubs and showers with ceramic-tile surrounds.
Buyers can choose from three exterior designs. Front-yard landscaping with irrigation is included. All garages are finished.
Amenities include three private parks, two swimming pools, tennis courts and a recreation center.
To visit, take Charleston Boulevard west, past Rampart Boulevard, to the Queensridge entrance and follow the signs. The sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
