Palisades proves popular at MacDonald Highlands

MacDonald Highlands, a custom-home golf course community, has sold 35 of 40 lots at the Palisades neigh- borhood.
"Palisades has been one of our quickest selling neighborhoods in part because it offers so many diverse custom-lot choices," Emily Sherwood, vice president of sales, said. "Whether someone prefers a city, mountain or golf course view, or a combination thereof, there is a custom lot in Palisades for them."
The neighborhood will comprise single- and two-story homes built on lots that range from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre. Home sites range in elevation from golf course level to 170 feet overlooking the course, and are priced from $276,000 to $695,000.
Some of the remaining lots in Palisades are aligned with the golf and country club at DragonRidge, according to Sherwood.
"Since the grand opening of DragonRidge in May, we have seen interest in Palisades' custom lots increase dramatically among potential buyers," she said. "Now that the course is open for play, there seems to be a sense of urgency from people looking to get in before the lots are all gone."
MacDonald Highlands will feature about 500 custom homes throughout the community's two square miles. There are seven neighborhoods under development with home sites ranging from one-third acre to more than 2 acres. The lots in these neighborhoods are priced from $135,000 to nearly $2 million.
DragonRidge is a private equity golf and country club. A 30,000-square-foot clubhouse is scheduled to open in fall 2001 with a golf shop, exercise and spa facility, swimming pool, dining room, mixed grill and lounge, and locker rooms. A temporary clubhouse is open.
The community's master plan includes three parks with tennis and volleyball courts, play areas and picnic facilities. Five miles of fitness paths are also planned.
To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway.
The information office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
