Christopher Collection nets recognition

The Christopher Collection by Christopher Homes was honored with a Merit Award for "Residential Project of the Year -- Detached" during the recent Gold Nugget Awards competition in San Francisco. The Christopher Collection was one of six neighborhoods honored in this category, among the more than 355 entries.

In its 38th year, the awards program is part of the annual Pacific Coast Builders Conference and honors achievements in architectural design and land use planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Entries come from 14 Western states and all countries bordering the Pacific Ocean.

Company chairman J. Christopher Stuhmer was pleased to receive recognition for his neighborhood, which is located within the guard-gated Southern Highlands Golf Club.

"Christopher Homes spared no expense in creating a neighborhood design at The Christopher Collection that would complement both the rich architecture of the homes and the outstanding quality of the Southern Highlands Golf Club," Stuhmer said. "Southern Highlands Golf Club is the `new address' in Las Vegas, and The Christopher Collection harmonizes perfectly with the outstanding country club lifestyle offered here."

The neighborhood features 15 floor plans, measuring from about 3,000 to 6,200 square feet. Home sites average about one-quarter acre and more than 75 percent are located along the golf course.

Homes are priced from the mid-$400,000s to more than $1 million.

Each of the one- and two-story designs offers four elevations and 12 color palettes. Each includes a stainless steel appliance package, oak or maple cabinetry, and granite counter tops.

Myriad design options such as elevators, motor courts, courtyard fireplaces, detached guest quarters, major room additions, four-car garages, extra baths, bonus rooms, libraries, wine cellars and wet bars. A $25,000 allowance is included in the base price of each home for options and upgrades, and buyers may consult with design center staff.

The builder provides each buyer with a social membership at the Southern Highlands Golf Club, upon application approval.

Community amenities include roving security, concierge services, parks and recreational facilities.

Consisting of semicustom and custom homes, the enclave is located on the southern edge of the 2,300-acre Southern Highlands community.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the Lake Mead Drive exit and head west. Models are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
