Center helps Siena residents stay healthy
Siena's wellness center, operated in partnership with Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, exists for the health and fitness of the age-qualified community's residents. "Residents can take advantage of free blood pressure screenings conducted by a registered nurse from the hospital every Friday and can also meet with a certified Medicare counselor by appointment," health and fitness manager Wayne Ireland said. The center also offers a video library and twice-monthly seminars for residents, ranging from cholesterol screenings to discussions with a doctor about diabetes and congestive heart failure. Another popular seminar is called "Brown Bag Prescriptions," in which residents bring all of their prescriptions for a pharmacist to review for possible side-effects or reactions with other medications. "Our residents really like the wellness center and monthly programs, particularly those who are new to Southern Nevada and are seeking new doctors and information," Ireland said. "In addition, overall well-being is so important for many of our residents, who attend the seminars to learn about prevention and steps to take in order to maintain good health and a positive well-being." The Tuscan-themed, 15,900-square-foot fitness center comes with an indoor swim pavilion with a 25-meter pool, spa and series of two-story windows overlooking the golf course. It also has exercise rooms and equipment, as well as private saunas and steam rooms. A full-service beauty salon and day spa offers therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology and treatments. There is also an outdoor pool, spa, and lighted tennis and bocce courts. Designed in an Italian theme, the 14 single-story floor plans range from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet and are priced from the $160,000s to the $600,000s. Each plan offers three exterior designs and a range of customizing options, such as courtyard fireplaces and casitas. Interior designers can assist buyers with options and choices. A social center has a computer lab, billiards and cards rooms, and a variety of classes ranging from ballroom dancing to painting. Open to the public on a daily-fee basis, a par-72, 18-hole championship golf course winds through the village. One-third of the 1,900 homes will be built along the course. Residents are given special rates and preferred tee times. The guard-gated community also offers security patrols. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
