Solera at Anthem celebrates first closings
Three couples became the first residents of Solera at Anthem, an age-qualified community located within the Anthem master plan in Henderson. Thea and Richard Schemm, Harvey and Sandi Kossman, and Don and Dawn Wright all accepted keys to their new homes last week. "We like the atmosphere of the whole Anthem community. We feel we are selecting a lifestyle, and look forward to living with people we can socialize with, join clubs, take classes, use the fitness center and lead an active life," said Harvey Kossman, a 13-year resident of Las Vegas. Kossman, who works for the postal service, and his wife, who is a medical transcriptionist, purchased the Whitney model. "This model has an open floor plan, a great room and is just the right size for us," he said. For the Schemms, the community is the perfect location for a second home. "We were in town visiting our daughter, Allison, and her family," Thea Schemm said. "We had absolutely no plans to buy another house. But when we looked at the Solera at Anthem community, we thought about it overnight, then went back the next day and said `we'll take one.'" The North Wales, Pa., couple chose the Franklin model. "Our back yard provides a perfect view of the Strip," she said. "We are both enthusiastic about this change in our life; we are looking forward to more travel in western part of the country." Don Wright is a construction superintendent for the builder, Del Webb. "I believe in this project so strongly that I wanted to be the first to move into this great community," he said. "Both Dawn and I are eager to enjoy the lifestyle offered at Solera." Four floor plans are available, ranging from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$170,000s to more than $220,000. They include integrated wiring, low-e windows, a cocoon insulation system, and heating and cooling sealants that exceed Energy Star requirements. Several amenities are featured. "Amenities include a community fitness center, swimming pool, club and hobby rooms, billiard tables, tennis courts, computer and craft rooms, bocce and many more activities for the active adult lifestyle," sales manager R. Wayne Wermuth said. The Revere at Anthem Golf Club is located nearby in Del Webb's Sun City Anthem. It includes two public golf courses -- the 7,143-yard Lexington and 7,050-yard Concord -- designed by architect Greg Nash and PGA golfer Billy Casper. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
