Sun City Aliante inspires retirees
Pearl and Fred Brooks believe that escaping the winters in Michigan is "the greatest thing since sliced bread." The two, who recently retired from the automotive industry, purchased a home in Del Webb's age-qualified Sun City Aliante community in North Las Vegas. "We're enjoying our home, meeting new people and starting over," Pearl Brooks said. Seven single-story homes are available, ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet. Homes are priced from the mid-$310,000s to the low $450,000s. The Brooks selected the 1,424-square-foot Primrose model. "We wanted to downsize, but not too much," she said. "The Primrose is just the right size, not too big or too small." Priced from the mid-$300,000s, the home has three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, dining room, kitchen nook, and a two-car garage. All homes in the community include most appliances, oak cabinetry, structured wiring, recessed lighting, and desert landscaping in the front and back yards. In addition, they feature Environments for Living building technology, which has energy-saving features including low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. Recognized as Energy Star homes by the Environmental Protection Agency, they also include a three-year heating and cooling energy-use and comfort guarantee. The Brooks said they have been pleased with the builder's service, especially from its in-house mortgage company. "We had started working with another lender, but Del Webb Home Mortgage was so great that we decided to switch lenders," Pearl Brooks said. The two enjoy traveling and said they look forward to visiting national parks in the area. They also enjoy going to church, the movies and museums, and said they are awaiting next spring's opening of the community's recreation center. The center will include a swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms. Tennis and bocce courts are open. In addition, residents have access to Aliante amenities including a public golf course and the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, which has a picnic area, amphitheater, and tennis and volleyball courts. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit, then go north. The sales office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Del Webb, a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., also offers the age-qualified Sun City Anthem and Solera at Anthem communities in Henderson, as well as the all-ages Club Aliante in North Las Vegas.
