Motorcycling couple cruises to Crystal Bend

The travels of newlywed motorcycling enthusiasts Mari Reynolds and Conrad O'Brien led them to Pardee Homes' Crystal Bend neighborhood, located within the Rancho Las Palmas community in the southern valley.

"I was a real estate agent in California, so I am very familiar with many Nevada builders' reputations," Reynolds said. "I knew Pardee builds quality homes ..."

The couple chose the 1,900-square-foot Plan One, which includes a great room with a vaulted ceiling, a separate dining room adjacent to the kitchen, and a breakfast nook.

Mari Reynolds believes the home reflects her mother's Japanese heritage, as well as her own interest in the design philosophy of feng shui. She also designed their flower-filled back yard and blue lagoon pool.

The neighborhood features four single-story, ranch-style homes ranging from 1,964 to 2,600 square feet.

Prices start in the $180,000s.

Plan Two measures 2,315 square feet and offers as many as four bedrooms and a three-car garage. A den is optional. The home features a half-moon-shaped breakfast bar and an island workstation with a sink in the kitchen.

Offering 2,443 square feet, Plan Three features a central great room and as many as four bedrooms and three baths. Options for a den or study are also available.

Plan Four measures about 2,627 square feet in a home that includes three bedrooms, a den and 2 1/2 baths; or four bedrooms and three baths and a three-bay garage.

Standard features include high ceilings, ceramic tile or wood entry flooring, and cultured-marble counter tops in secondary baths.

Owner suites offer walk-in closets, and owner baths with dual sinks, enclosed toilets, and separate tubs and showers with clear glass enclosures and ceramic-tile surrounds.

Recreational facilities within the community include tennis courts, a playground, volleyball courts, jogging trails, a basketball court and a picnic area with a gazebo and barbecue.

To visit the neighborhood, take Interstate 215 to Windmill Lane and turn right. Proceed to Bermuda Road and follow the signs. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday when the office opens at 11 a.m.
