Anthem golf course hosts member-guest tourneys

Officials at Anthem Country Club, a community located in southwest Henderson, anticipate an exceptional season on their championship golf course and are eager to present member-guest golf tournaments.

One such event was held last weekend: the Desert Duos ladies member-guest golf tournament. A special wine tasting social kicked off the weekend, which also included luncheons and special contests.

This weekend, the golf course is the site for the men's member-guest tournament, Viva Las Vegas. Activities will include a cocktail reception, luau entertainment poolside at the community's athletic club, and an awards ceremony with a swing band and an appearance by Elvis.

"These are our premiere member-guest tournaments of the year where members have the opportunity to show off their club to their friends and family," head golf pro Mollie Gibson said. "And our club is ready to shine. Our golf superintendent has worked hard to have the golf course in absolutely perfect condition and food and beverage have special dining experiences planned."

Jeff Seman, director of golf, said the course provides a tremendous golfing experience and is in the best condition since opening in March 1999.

"Our greens are spectacular, fairways immaculate and we have one of the top golf course conditions in Southern Nevada," Seman said.

The championship golf course winds through the community and the surrounding mountain terrain. The 7,300-yard, par-72, 18-hole golf course is available through equity memberships for residents of the country club, and executive memberships for nonresidents. The executive golf membership allows members to enjoy the golf course, clubhouse and fitness center for a limited term.

"This is a unique opportunity as Anthem Country Club is one of the few golf communities that offers this type of membership," Seman said.

Other amenities include the athletic club, clubhouse, dining facilities, the Reflections Salon, tennis courts and a basketball court.

About 1,600 homes and custom-home sites are planned for the community. The land planning is designed to provide open areas and views of the city skyline and surrounding mountains. Four series of homes provide 20 floor plans ranging from 1,394 to 5,797 square feet.

Homes are priced from the $200,000s to more than $1 million. Some homes are ready for move-in.

A design studio features professionals who can help in selecting options, including floor coverings, counter tops, cabinets, interior colors, light fixtures, appliances and window coverings.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway. The model complex is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
