Las Ventanas hosts informational seminars
Las Ventanas, a life care community to be built in Summerlin, is hosting a series of seminars for area seniors at its information center in Hughes Plaza at 10000 W. Charleston Blvd. The small group luncheons are held two to three times a week and are attended by an average of six to eight seniors who are interested in learning more about the life care retirement option. "We've tested the small group seminars over the last month and found that the format creates an environment that allows participants to fully participate by asking more pointed questions and sharing their opinions as to what they want from a life care community," said Suzanne Caldarello, marketing director for Las Ventanas. While the small group seminars are new to Las Ventanas, the continued effort to gather insights from seniors is not new to Greystone Communities, which is developing and will serve as the management company for Las Ventanas. Greystone has specialized in the senior housing market for more than 20 years providing full-scale development services for more than 40 senior living communities in the United States. In addition, Greystone has worked with more than 250 sponsors in the development and management of other senior living communities nationwide. Qualified seniors who attend the seminars have the opportunity to meet with Greystone executives in Dallas, where they can visit the newly opened Edgemere community. "Future residents of Las Ventanas can see firsthand the uniqueness of a new Greystone community," Caldarello said. "Edgemere has many similarities to Las Ventanas at Summerlin, and clearly demonstrates the expertise which Greystone has in the senior retirement industry." Las Ventanas will be built on 17 acres at the corner of West Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive. Nearby, secluded from the residents' view by landscaping, are a variety of stores. Residents can walk, drive or avail themselves of Las Ventanas' resident transportation to shop, dine or go to the movies all within blocks of the community. Las Ventanas will feature 60 private, assisted-living suites and 60 private skilled-nursing care rooms that are separate from the independent living, condominium-style apartments, which will be easily accessible by an enclosed, climate-controlled walkway. These facilities are available when, and if, residents need the additional services. Residents will experience a completely maintenance-free life with such amenities and services as all-electric kitchens, washer and dryer, 24-hour emergency call system and security, storage areas, and paid utilities (except telephone). Also included are meals, weekly housekeeping and linen service, valet parking, basic cable television, health and wellness programs, cultural, social and recreational activities, and concierge services. Community areas will include a covered aquatic center, fitness center, lawn theater, performing arts center, full-service main dining room and several private dining rooms, a library, lounge, cyber cafe, business center, and barber shop/beauty salon. "Las Ventanas is the only community where residents may choose from different residency plan options ranging from full-service life care to continuing care. Additionally, choices range from full-service, a ... meal plan or residents may opt not to have housekeeping or meal service," Caldarello said. Residents may choose a traditional payment plan or opt for one that allows for 90 percent of the entrance fee to be refunded to the resident or their estate at any time. The information center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
