Green Valley hosts art fest
The recent Green Valley Town Center Art Festival drew thousands of art lovers to the well-established retail, restaurant and entertainment center on Sunset Road. The free art festival was sponsored by American Nevada Corp., developer and property manager of Green Valley Town Center, and organized by Mark Vranesh, a renowned local artist. The works of other renowned artists from Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico were on display and available for sale. The art festival canvassed the wide promenades, fountain plaza areas and outdoor restaurants of the 70-acre complex. In the fountain courtyard adjacent to Barley's Casino, more than 70 artisan booths featured a wide variety of art works and crafts, ranging from sculpture, garden art, all styles of painting, pottery, jewelry, glass art and photography. In the new West Fountain Courtyard, demonstrations in interior design, floral arranging, gourmet cooking and graphic arts were presented by the Art Institute of Las Vegas and Floral Essence. The institute also displayed student artwork. Hands-on demonstrations were available for kids to try. Other booths and activities in the West Fountain Courtyard included gourmet items, puppet shows and puppet workshops; mimes, a caricature artist, hands-on ceramics and mural painting for children, face art, strolling entertainers and a slide.
