Sun City Anthem buyer cites `camaraderie'

Easy access to activities and a resort-like atmosphere prompted Paulette Stevens to move from Denver to the Sun City Anthem age-qualified community in Henderson.

"It's wonderful to have the camaraderie of people who are just like you," Stevens said.

"I have used the recreational facilities, and especially the indoor pool, more in the last month than in the past 30 years. Sun City Anthem has the things that are important to me. I swim three times a week, use the fitness center, play golf, hike, I even found new friends who like to kayak as much as I do."

Stevens continues to manage medical offices and billings for Denver physicians. She moved to the Del Webb-built community mainly for the lifestyle it offers.

"It feels like living in a country club all the time," Stevens said.

The Revere at Anthem Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship golf courses built into the nearby canyons. The clubhouse offers a pro shop and Buckman's Restaurant.

The community offers 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program. Homes are priced from the low $140,000s to more than $500,000.

Stevens selected the Arlington model. She said the builder's reputation was important to her. She was pleased by recent changes to the Sun City Anthem master plan.

"I think that with 2,500 fewer homes in the community, we'll have more exclusivity that will increase property values. Del Webb has a long-term vision," Stevens said.

A third golf course is now planned for the community.

Sun City Anthem also is home to the Anthem Center, which features fitness, social and recreational opportunities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, past Horizon Ridge Parkway, to Anthem Parkway and follow the signs. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
