Turnberry Place provides high-rise lifestyle
The high-rise condominiums at Turnberry Place are continuing to attract buyers four years after sales began, according to John Riordan, vice president of sales. "There's still a demand for a low-maintenance, resort lifestyle in Las Vegas, and we don't anticipate that changing any time soon," Riordan said. "With the growing population in Southern Nevada, building high-rise towers addresses the urban sprawl land issue. We are building up instead of out." The average price of a luxury condo is $750,000, and more than 500 of the 740 planned residences have been sold since sales began in January 1999. Riordan projects a 30 percent increase in this year's sales compared to 2002. "We are pleased with the sales success," he said. "There was a bit of skepticism when we first entered the market but the demand for this lifestyle has filled a niche in Las Vegas." Construction of its third tower has surpassed the 21st floor, and completion is slated for early 2004. Sales will begin on the fourth and final 40-story tower this spring. Ten floor plans are available, priced from $550,000 to more than $5 million. They feature marble spa baths, granite-topped kitchen cabinetry, Sub-Zero and Gagganeu appliances, and wraparound glass balconies. Riordan said the complex's location, a block away from the Strip, and amenities are attractive to buyers. "It's a lifestyle of convenience," he said. "Our buyers include business executives, singles and couples buying second or third homes, empty nesters, and those looking for a resort lifestyle with luxury amenities." All residents are members of the Stirling Club. The 80,000-square-foot private club features casual and fine dining, an anti-aging European spa, fitness center, Pilates studio, beauty salon, spas, saunas and steam baths, and indoor lap pool. Additionally, there is a nightclub, piano lounge, clay tennis courts and outdoor mosaic pool with a bar. Chef Charlie Palmer will bring his progressive American cuisine to the club when he comes on board June 1 to spearhead its food and beverage operations. "We are currently working on the menu concepts, and we anticipate putting together a dynamic selection for club members," said Palmer, who is known for his work at Aureole at Mandalay Bay and Charlie Palmer Steak at Four Seasons. The club also offers valet parking, security, concierge service, limousine service and room service. At the sales center, visitors can tour a 2,825-square-foot model residence that simulates the view from the 27th floors of the first two towers. The center, located at 2777 Paradise Road, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The developer, Florida-based Turnberry Associates, recently announced a joint venture with MGM Mirage to build a luxury condominium-hotel complex on the northeast end of the MGM Grand's 115-acre property.
