Las Ventanas to complete lifestyle options in Summerlin

Las Ventanas, a life care retirement community under development, completes the circle of lifestyle options in Summerlin, according to Larry Brocato, executive vice president of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin.

"From its inception, Summerlin was designed as a multigenerational community for residents of all ages and incomes," Brocato said. "The community's full offering of single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums and rental apartments will soon be enhanced with the life care retirement option offered at Las Ventanas."

The resort-style development is situated on 17 acres at West Charleston Boulevard and Town Center Drive in the heart of Summerlin Centre, the community's emerging town center.

According to Brocato, the life care concept provides residents with a lifetime guarantee for all the care they need in the present and future, as well as lifetime coverage for the cost of that care. The three levels of care include independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing.

"Residents who move into the independent apartment homes have immediate access to additional assistance as their health dictates," Brocato said. "It's a great concept that eliminates the worries of aging for both older individuals and their families. We are pleased to offer this lifestyle option in Summerlin."

When complete in 2004, Las Ventanas will offer nearly 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom independent-living apartments, 60 private assisted-living suites and 60 skilled-nursing rooms.

The campus will feature a range of amenities, including full-service dining, a fitness club and aquatic center, cyber café and business center, performing arts theater, library and lounge, creative arts studio, billiards and card room, beauty salon and barbershop, and postal center.

Being developed in villages along the western rim of the valley, Summerlin has ranked as the nation's best-selling master-planned community 10 of the past 11 years, according to independent surveys. It is home to eight golf courses, 105 neighborhood and village parks, more than 100 miles of trails, 18 public and private schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, and business parks.

Nearly 150 models show the range of single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums available, which are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom-home sites in The Ridges are priced from the $500,000s to more than $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $2.1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s.

To visit the community's home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara, head east to Town Center and turn north. The center is open Thursday through Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maps are available outside the center on Tuesday and Wednesday.
