Residents remain busy at Sun City Anthem
Jennifer Samuelson is the consummate multitasker. As Sun City Anthem's director of activities, she coordinates excursions, classes, and social events, and oversees more than 40 clubs and organizations for the community's 9,000 residents. A sample of activities include the community's anniversary party and its annual garage sale in addition to professional and school group recitals, trips to Pahrump and Laughlin, Las Vegas 51s baseball games, dinners out and concerts on the lawn at Anthem Center. Some residents take excursions on foot through the hiking club -- one of the most active groups at the community. "This month alone, the club has organized over 20 planned hikes throughout the valley," Samuelson said. Others stay active within the community. The Anthem Center, a 77,363-square-foot facility, offers fitness, social and recreational opportunities, and a restaurant and lounge with views of the city. A second, smaller recreation center is scheduled to break ground next month and open in 2005. For golfers, The Revere at Anthem Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship courses. Twelve floor plans ranging from 1,496 to 3,175 square feet are available at Del Webb's age-qualified community in Henderson. Prices start from the low $370,000s to the mid-$640,000s. Each home is built with Environments For Living technology, which includes energy-saving features. They are certified by the Environmental Protection Agency as Energy Star homes and offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway, and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
