Solera's active lifestyle lures Las Vegans

Longtime Las Vegas residents Don and NaJean Wolfgram aren't retiring for a while, but they are ready for a new lifestyle.

"We were originally looking for lots to build on, but we liked what Solera at Anthem had to offer. We're looking forward to living in an adult community and its way of life," said Don Wolfgram, who is employed by the county's aviation department while his wife works as an accounting manager for a TV station.

Because of their busy schedules, the streamlined process for purchasing a home at Del Webb's age-qualified community in Henderson was ideal.

"What really sold us was that so many things are already included," Wolfgram said. "There are very few things to upgrade."

Among the included items are ceramic-tile flooring and energy-efficient features that exceed Energy Star requirements. All homes include integrated wiring, low-e windows and a cocoon insulation system.

With fewer option selections to make, the purchase process is faster and easier, according to sales manager R. Wayne Wermuth.

"Home buying at Solera at Anthem was designed to be streamlined and convenient for the home buyer," Wermuth said.

Four floor plans are offered, measuring from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet and priced from the high $160,000s to mid-$200,000s.

The couple selected the Whitney model.

"We like the great room, the kitchen and the openness of the floor plan. ... Our new house will be right across from the recreation center that will be built this summer," Wolfgram said, adding that he plans to make use of the fitness center and his wife is looking forward to joining a crafts club.

Other proposed amenities include a swimming pool, clubs, billiard tables, tennis courts, computer and craft rooms, and bocce.

Originally from Waterloo, Iowa, the Wolfgrams moved to Nevada to start a new life in the West.

"I love watching the news and seeing snow storms and thinking `That's why I left,'" he said.

They have a daughter in Ohio and their son is a fire captain in Henderson.

"When the family gets together there are a lot of us, and this home will be great for entertaining," Wolfgram said.

To visit the neighborhood's presales office, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to 2246 Somersworth Drive, which is across from the fire station.

The office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
