KB HOME: All the queen's horsesSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
Stephanie Malone, reigning Nevada High School Rodeo Queen, and her parents will soon be moving to a new home on a half-acre lot at The Classics at Iron Mountain Ranch. Coming along will be Stephanie's horses -- Dia and Dandy. "The Classics at Iron Mountain Ranch community not only offers large home sites with lots up to a half-acre and more, the area is zoned for horses," said Bonnie Hernandez, director of marketing for KB Home. Joyce Malone said when her daughter is not attending school or a rodeo, she is at the stable where her horses are boarded. "We started with just one horse, but Stephanie was competing so much she needed at least two horses," Malone said. "We looked at the cost of boarding two horses and realized the money should be going toward our mortgage." The family spent several months researching horse properties, and had started to believe that a custom lot would be their only option. "The problem with buying a custom lot is you never know who is moving in next to you and what they have planned for their property," Richard Malone said. "We know with The Classics at Iron Mountain Ranch and KB Home we will have consistency of housing in the neighborhood and community standards." The Malones were among the first in line at the sales office the day the builder released its first phase of lots. "We didn't even wait to see the floor plans," Joyce Malone said. "We had no idea what the homes would look like, but we had heard so many great things about KB Home. We had to get a site." They selected the Cartwright plan, a 2,612-square-foot home with three bedrooms, a den and 2 1/2 baths. It will be built on an elevated site with a view of the Sheep Mountains. The builder allowed the Malones to choose how their home would be placed on the lot. As a result, there will be plenty of room for a stable, small arena, tack room and horse trailer storage. "We'll have peace of mind knowing the horses are right out back," Richard Malone said. Six single- and two-story plans are available, ranging from 2,612 to 3,803 square feet. They feature three to six bedrooms, 2 1/2 or three baths, and three-car garages. Homes are priced from the high $280,000s. Gated and nongated home sites measure from 20,000 to 30,000 square feet. The gated neighborhood is located in the northwestern valley. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Ann Road, head east to Jones Boulevard, then go north about three miles to Grand Teton Drive. Turn right at Grand Teton, go to Sterling Moon Avenue and turn right. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. KB Home offers one-stop shopping at its Home Studio at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, south of Warm Springs Road. Through its Homebuyers Club and Home Finding Center, the builder offer free financial advice, including credit reports and counseling, and assistance locating a home in its more than 20 neighborhoods in the Las Vegas area.
