Aliante's egg hunt successful

More than 1,500 visitors came out for a day of fun at last Saturday's Dinosaur Egg Hunt in the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

The Easter-themed event was held in the community's 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, which features several dinosaur-themed play areas. The day's activities included the egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, music, entertainment, dancing, face painting, bounce houses, a roaming dinosaur, and contests and games.

Kimiko Peterson, community marketing manager, called the event "gratifying."

"As Aliante grows, so does the size of our community events, and this is probably the largest we've ever had," Peterson said.

The event was sponsored by community developer North Valley Enterprises, a partnership of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb Corp.

The 1,905-acre community consists of an age-qualified village and an all-ages area. Combined, they will offer as many as 7,500 homes and be home to about 20,000 residents.

Prices for homes start from the $170,000s to the $500,000s.

Builders are D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Del Webb is building the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Nearly 430 acres are designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, three city parks, trails, linear parks and an arroyo. Two elementary schools, a middle school and fire station are planned.

About 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including a gaming property.

To visit the information gallery, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
