Cloud Carpets credits growth to new-home buyers

New-home buyers account for a large part of business at Cloud Carpets, according to co-owner Roy Shelton.

"Many of the new-home buyers we sold to in the late '70s and '80s are now coming back again, so our new-home business, while still growing, is balanced with the replacement business that has become quite substantial," Shelton said.

Cloud Carpets, in business in Southern Nevada since 1962, also offers hot tubs by Dimension One Spas and soon plans to begin offering swimming pools.

The company has four stores, two of which opened last year, Shelton said, to meet customer demand.

"We're just easier to get to now," he said.

The 50,000-square-foot flagship store is on Industrial Road near Tropicana Avenue. It has on display floor tile; wall tile; and soft floor coverings including custom-dyed or woven carpets, Oriental, and other exotic carpets.

Additional stores are located at 800 N. Rainbow Blvd. in Las Vegas; 334 Water St. in Henderson; and in Mesquite.

Shelton co-owns the company with Gayle Shelton and Grant Selle.
