TURNBERRY PLACE: The Stirling ClubBy HOLLY IVY DE VOREREAL ESTATE WRITER
As members of The Stirling Club, residents of Turnberry Place have quick access to numerous luxury amenities, all of which underscore the lifestyle at the condominium development. Located on Paradise Road, south of Sahara Avenue, the high-rise development offers 10 floor plans measuring from 1,550 to 8,000 square feet, and priced from $500,000 to more than $5.25 million. The Stirling Club, a $40 million private facility, is considered the centerpiece of the four-tower development. It provides valet and concierge services and is highlighted by a grand staircase illuminated by an elaborate chandelier. Upstairs offers casual and fine dining, dancing and entertainment, while fitness and relaxation opportunities await members downstairs. "We think of our members as a family, and we don't view it as a club, but as a private mansion," said Sharon Bader, director of marketing and special events for the club. "We pay attention to detail, and our staff knows your name and what you like. The club offers you the feeling of a five-star resort." The restaurants feature the creations of chefs Peter Sherlock, Mark Reed and Stefan Kauth, and overlook an outdoor mosaic pool and the Strip. Occasional theme nights have included a lobster boil, seafood buffet and barbecue. For those wanting even more luxurious dining, there is an intimate room with Faberge dinnerware and private wine lockers. "For an additional $3,000 per year, members can have access to the 28 Room, which is a perfect place to hold meetings or dinners," she said. "We also have vintners' dinners in the 28 Room, where our chef develops a menu around the wine and the winemaker attends." Coincidentally, the club has 28 members, according to Bader. All of The Stirling Club's 600 members can frequent a piano bar and nightclub, which is art deco in style and highlighted by copper and leather lined walls. "We have had a Mardi Gras party in the nightclub and other special events have been held here as well. There is also dancing with live music or a deejay," Bader said, adding that Men's Night Out events have been held in the billiard and cigar rooms, where cigars costing as much as $140 apiece are available. Classes and other activities are available at the fitness center, which also provides cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, an indoor resistance pool, exercise rooms, and access to personal trainers and a nutritionist. "Some of the most popular classes that we offer are Pilates, yoga, spinning, core board, body sculpting, boxing for fitness, and water aerobics," fitness manager Kimberly Dickhut said, pointing out that individualized exercise programs are also available. "We provide our members an age assessment that compares someone's chronological age versus their actual age. We look at their biomarkers of fitness and their body composition and muscle mass, and we use that information to create individualized fitness programs. These programs typically incorporate resistance training with a nutritional program." Adjacent to the fitness area is the Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa, which offers grape-based beauty treatments. "Our focus is on anti-aging, wellness and just sheer pampering," Myrna Beardshear, director of spa and fitness, said. "No matter what the age, people want to feel and look good. When people leave here, they feel and look wonderful." Catering to men and women, the spa also provides massage and facial treatments, as well as saunas, steam baths, lounges and locker rooms. The Gerard Alexandre Salon is scheduled to open soon, and will provide hair, makeup and nail services. In June, four clay tennis courts will open, with a tennis pro and classes available. They are the first clay courts at a resort community in the Las Vegas Valley, according to a Turnberry spokesman. Buyers awaiting the completion of their home may also enjoy the club. Nonresidents may join by invitation only. The development's second tower is scheduled for completion next month, and construction is slated to start in June on the third tower. "We are allowing buyers ... access to the club while they wait for their homes to be built. So, before they move in, they are able to experience the amenities and meet their fellow residents. When they move in, they already feel like they are part of the community," J. Brad Millsap, vice president of membership, said. "It works twofold. Some members decided to buy at Turnberry because the purchase includes membership into the club. They like the amenities, the environment and the lifestyle that we offer. The club also introduces our nonresident members to Turnberry Place, and some have made a purchase at Turnberry after joining the club," he said. "Most of the nonresidents have learned about the club by word of mouth ... It's been very exciting that our members here are telling their friends about the club and they want to join, too." A premier membership, which includes access to all amenities, and a social dining membership are available to nonmembers with prices based on an initiation fee structure. Millsap said premier memberships range from $261.70 to $327.12 per month for families, and from $178.80 to $223.50 for singles. Social dining members pay from $105 to $131.25 per month per family, and from $84 to $105 for singles. A life membership with no monthly dues is available for $30,000. Corporate and national memberships are also offered. Turnberry Place is located at 2777 Paradise Road. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
