Amenities attract buyers to Siena

Dennis and Lynda Rymer will become the newest residents of the Siena age-qualified community in Summerlin when they move into their home this week.

The Rymers discovered Siena after a trip to Florida.

"We were visiting family who lived in an adult community in Florida and we really enjoyed the lifestyle. When we arrived back in Las Vegas we noticed they were building Siena and we went to take a look but kind of filed the information away," Linda Rymer said.

It wasn't until they looked at other gated communities that the couple began to appreciate Siena's amenities.

"We looked all over the valley, and every time we would view a community we would always compare it back to Siena and its amenities, which none of the other communities could compete with."

The Rymers purchased the Como 6110 floor plan. With two bedrooms and two baths, the 1,656-square-foot design features a den or optional formal dining room, great room with media niche and optional fireplace, kitchen with island breakfast bar, breakfast nook, laundry room with optional hobby space, master bedroom with two closets, master bath with a linen closet, separate tub and shower, covered back patio, and a two-car garage. The plan is priced at $236,500.

"The 6110 was just the right size for us and we loved its openness," Rymer said.

The two will celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary in May. He is a freight train engineer and she is a lead floor supervisor at a casino.

"We met 18 years ago at a red light and it was love at first sight," Rymer said. "I was driving around with my girlfriend and we were stopped at a red light when Dennis pulled alongside on his motorcycle. I was in the passenger's seat and when I looked over we just stared at each other. The light turned green and he drove on, however, about a mile up the street, he and his friends were waiting ... and they motioned for us to pull in. Dennis and I exchanged numbers and he called the next day. We've been together ever since."

From that point, motorcycles have been a part of the Rymers' lives.

"Dennis and I love to take long, scenic trips on the motorcycle. It's relaxing and a wonderful way to see the sights," she said.

Once settled into their home, they said they plan to start playing golf.

"Dennis golfs a little and I'm looking forward to playing some myself," Rymer said.

Located on the southwest edge of the Las Vegas Valley, the 665-acre community is being developed by Sunrise Colony Co. It will comprise about 2,300 homes.

Amenities include golf, swimming, bocce, tennis, dances, crafts and clubs. A social center, which will house a ballroom, business center, rooms for arts, crafts and games, will open this summer.

A 15,900-square-foot health and fitness center has indoor and outdoor pools, spas, exercise equipment, saunas, steam rooms, a wellness center and full-service salon and day spa.

The 18-hole, par-72, daily-fee golf course is anchored by a 13,500-square-foot clubhouse with a pro shop and full-service restaurant. Siena Golf Club is open to all ages, however, residents receive special rates and preferred tee times.

Six Italian-themed collections feature 18 single-story floor plans, ranging from 1,040 to 3,200 square feet. Homes are priced from the $150,000s to the $400,000s, plus site premiums.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
