Golf lures buyers to Anthem Country Club

Del Webb Corp.'s reputation was a factor in the home-buying decision of Charlie and Ellen Fahr, who found their new home at Anthem Country Club in Henderson.
"Anthem Country Club is an easy community to generate excitement among home buyers, because people trust Del Webb's quality and know that progress will continue in a timely fashion," said Ellen Fahr, who is a Realtor. "The Anthem master plan has made great strides since the model grand opening in October of 1998."
The Fahrs also are founding members of the country club.
"Our No. 1 appeal to the community was the private, equity-owned golf memberships available," Fahr said. "And secondly, we loved the ... lots, beautiful topography, views of the city and mountains, and the many customizing home options to choose from. We felt like we were building a custom home with all of the options offered."
Equity golf memberships are $35,000; recallable memberships are $37,500, and available on a limited basis.
The 7,300-yard, par-72 championship golf course was designed by PGA champion Hale Irwin and architect Keith Foster. The course opened for play in March.
Slated to open in May is the Athletic Club, a 13,700-square-foot facility. In early 2000, the 33,000-square-foot clubhouse will open. Also planned is a trail system linking the neighborhoods with recreational amenities, including a park with event lawns and an amphitheater.
Four series of homes are available, and range from 1,275 to 5,769 square feet. Prices start from $161,000 to $585,000.
The community offers 17 floor plans and more than 50 architectural variations, including second stories, basements and casitas. The design center assists buyers in decorating their homes.
Half-acre custom-home sites range to $750,000, including many with views.
Anthem Country Club comprises about 1,000 acres of the 4,800-acre Anthem master-planned community on Eastern Avenue, about two miles south of Lake Mead Drive.
The master plan includes a 20-acre middle school site, a commercial center, nature trails, a 55-acre city park and landscaped common areas.
The sales office at Anthem Country Club is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
