Solera fits Californian's style

Judy Lee sees Del Webb's age-qualified Solera at Anthem as a community of like-minded people.

"Everyone is very fit, active and young at heart," Lee said. "The location of Solera at Anthem is ideal. The rugged mountains are beautiful; the feel of privacy offered within the community is much better than other home developments I've looked at."

The native Californian, who recently purchased a home at the Henderson development, said moving to Nevada was easy since she has been visiting Las Vegas since she was 16. In addition, the 30-year veteran of the television and film industry worked as a driver on the movies "Casino" and "Father Hood," which were filmed in Southern Nevada.

"I started in the motion picture industry in 1965, working as a secretary for producer Irwin Allen, who created `Lost in Space' and `Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,'" she said.

Lee was impressed by the builder's staff and floor plans.

"This is my first Del Webb home and the employees are the best in the business. All of the staff have been fabulous, and I've bought a lot of homes in my lifetime," she said. "I purchased the Whitney model on a corner home site and the workmanship is remarkable. The great room is open and bright. The breakfast bar in the kitchen is another bonus."

The 1,591-square-foot design has two bedrooms, two baths, a den, great room, kitchen nook, covered patio and two-car garage. It is priced from the high $300,000s.

Four additional floor plans range from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet. They are priced from the high $200,000s to the low $400,000s.

Amenities include ceiling fans, telephone and cable connections in all bedrooms, Corian counter tops, raised-panel cabinets, garage door openers, microwave ovens, and covered patios.

In addition, all of the homes have the builder's Environments For Living technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and cocoon insulation. They are Energy Star certified and offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee.

Lee, who plans to retire at the end of the year, said she is looking forward to using the community's amenities. She enjoys walking and has noticed "power walkers" in the community. She anticipates using the computer room in the planned recreation center, which will include a swimming pool.

Tennis and bocce courts are already open.

Nearby, The Revere at Anthem Golf Club features two championship golf courses: the Lexington and the Concord.

To visit the community, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. The office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes, one of the nation's leading home builders. In Southern Nevada, it also offers the age-qualified Sun City Anthem and Sun City Aliante.
