Retirees enjoy vantage point from Sun City Anthem
Bruce Talbert and his wife, Nancy, said they have met numerous residents who have become close neighbors and good friends since moving to Sun City Anthem, a Del Webb Corp. community in Henderson. The Talberts, who moved from San Diego, said they like the community's location in the foothills of Black Mountain. "You can enjoy seeing the beautiful city without having to be in it," Bruce Talbert, a retired pastor, said. Since moving to the age-qualified community, he has become an exercise enthusiast, working out in the fitness center and weight room every other day and using the indoor walking track in the Anthem Center with his wife. Nancy Talbert, a retired preschool teacher, said she enjoys ceramics and gardening. She also likes to "spread the enthusiasm about the Anthem Center," where she takes numerous classes such as step aerobics, stretching and women's' weights. "These classes are so important for me now," she said. "We really enjoy this area. We love to go to Red Rock Canyon and speed-boating on Lake Mead." The couple is also developing new interests. They have begun to play billiards and they are learning shuffleboard. Another community amenity is The Revere at Anthem Golf Club. The community offers 17 floor plans, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program. Two new models recently opened: the 1,465-square-foot Quincy and the 1,564-square-foot Andover. Homes are priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
