Area construction manager sets goal of meeting Energy Star certification standards
Energy Star ratings are among the most important aspects considered during the construction of the homes at Ardiente, according to Jody Turner, area construction manager for the age-qualified development in North Las Vegas.
"This is a big deal with those of us who are in the construction end of the business," he said. "We take our responsibility seriously to our homeowners and when we promise tight construction, each and every home is built for inspection.

He pointed out that in most neighborhoods, houses are sample-inspected for Energy Star certification. At Ardiente, he said, every home will be inspected.
"Every house must meet the standards," he said.
To be Energy Star certified, homes must be at least 30 percent more energy efficient than homes built to the standards set by the 1993 national Model Energy Code or 15 percent more efficient than the state energy code where they are located, whichever is more rigorous. The savings are based on heating, cooling and hot-water energy use and typically are achieved through a combination of building envelope upgrades, high-performance windows, reduced air infiltration, upgraded heating and air-conditioning systems, tight duct systems and upgraded water-heating equipment.
In addition, another of the company's concepts, spot building, has proved to be popular with buyers, according to Turner. Buyers may request any one of four floor plans ranging from 1,235 to 1,802 square feet on any lot within the Ardiente Aventura enclave, or any of four homes ranging from 1,801 to 2,352 square feet within the Ardiente Cielo enclave.
"This gives more immediacy to someone who wants to buy a home but doesn't want to wait for a new 'release' to get the floor plan they want, which is the way most builders plan their neighborhoods," Turner said.
The eight models are priced from $288,500.
Features, per plan, include two or three bedrooms, two baths, great rooms, dens, dining rooms, front porches, rear patios, island kitchens, breakfast nooks, entertainment areas, galleries, courtyards with optional fireplaces, music rooms and sun rooms.
Construction continues on a 13,000-square-foot clubhouse, which is in the process of being furnished and landscaped. It will include a bocce court, tennis courts, two swimming pools, a spa, and putting and chipping greens.
To visit, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Losee Road, go south to Tropical Parkway, turn east and proceed to Horizon Estates Drive. The models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
