Golf courses complement Lake Las Vegas Resort

At Lake Las Vegas Resort, golfers can consider the courses as part of their home. The Henderson resort features a 320-acre lake surrounded by homes and resort properties, as well as golf courses designed by top golf architects.

"Lake Las Vegas Resort provides the golfer not only a special challenge, but truly a unique environment for play," said R.F. Boeddeker, chairman and president of Transcontinental Corp., owner/developer of the resort. "Our goal was to create courses that complement the lakefront and canyon setting, while offering a playing challenge comparable to the finest courses in the world."

Two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses are featured within the community -- the private SouthShore Golf Club and the public Reflection Bay Golf Club.

For SouthShore property owners, the 6,917-yard South- Shore Golf Club draws upon the community's topography and features views of the lake and mountains. Reflection Bay Golf Club plays around arroyos and several water features. The 7,261-yard, par-72 course, like SouthShore, has been host to the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge and is home to the Nicklaus/Flick Game Improvement School.

Two other courses are planned. Later this year, the Tom Weiskopf-designed The Falls Golf Club will open to the public, using water as a prominent theme to create a series of hazards and offering special rates to property owners. Another course, the Tom Fazio-designed Rainbow Canyon Golf Club, is scheduled to open in 2004.

SouthShore, a gated 550-acre development with a Mediterranean theme, features custom-home sites, priced from the $300,000s to more than $2 million, in several enclaves with views of the lake, mountains and golf courses. Also available are Italian-style waterfront villas situated on a peninsula, executive homes with views of the lake and desert, and golf villas overlooking the SouthShore Golf Club.

Three residential enclaves adjacent to the Reflection Bay Golf Club are also available, priced from $400,000 to the mid-$800,000s. Along with semicustom townhomes and single-family homes, the north shore features single- and two-story fairway homes and European-style villas.

"We have made our vision a reality by offering visitors and residents the world's finest golf courses, upscale hotels and residences, and luxurious amenities, all centered around a serene lake," Boeddeker said.

Amenities include a full-service marina with a boat launch, store, electric boat and watercraft rentals, boat maintenance, and new boat sales. Adjacent to the marina is the private SouthShore Yacht & Beach Club, which features a beach, picnic and lawn area, outdoor pool and spa, fitness room, and tennis and basketball facilities.

The community is also home to the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort, Spa and Casino, which provides special tee times to guests.

Scheduled to debut in early 2003 is the Mediterranean-themed MonteLago Village. The village will feature a Ritz-Carlton Hotel, which is scheduled to open at the end of this year, in addition to a Florentine-style bridge that will connect the shores and house 75 Ritz-Carlton Club level rooms.

Upon completion, the village also will feature a spa, casino, boutiques, waterside restaurants and cafes, office space, and condominiums.

To visit the community's Discovery Centre, take Interstate 515 to Lake Mead Drive and head east to Lake Las Vegas Parkway. Or, take Interstate 215 to Lake Las Vegas Parkway.
