COLUMN: Home builders fill vacancy on board



-- The Southern Nevada Home Builders Association has named Jennifer Lewis to the board of directors. Lewis, assistant vice president at Lewis Operating Corp., fills a vacancy created by Stewart Gibbons, who resigned. Lewis also chairs the association's leadership committee, and serves on its legislative committee.

-- Ray Landry of Pardee Homes and Rupert Ruiz of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage have been appointed to the Nevada Housing Division's Housing Advisory Committee.

-- Pulte Homes received the 2002 Summit Award for exceptional quality in construction and outstanding customer service to its new-home buyers. The award, presented by Professional Warranty Service Corp., a nationwide warranty company, and Zurich Insurance, an insurer of home builders, is the second in a row for the company.

-- Clark & Sullivan Constructors has been awarded the contract to build the 160,000-square-foot Ken's Foods processing and distribution facility at Blue Diamond Ranches, a 400-acre multi-use development. The $16 million project is expected to be completed in first-quarter 2003.

-- American Nevada Corp. named Roy Strait Allen project manager in its commercial division. He oversees the activities of architects, engineers and general contractors. Most recently, Allen was project manager at Camco Pacific Construction.

-- Charles Van Geel of American Nevada Corp. represented the company in its five-year lease of 1,705 square feet in Green Valley Corporate Center, 2275 Corporate Circle, in Henderson, to Grimmet & Co., represented by Jack Holler Commercial Real Estate, for $224,000.

-- Ross Burnett of Business Properties Group represented the company in its 10-year lease of 4,800 square feet at 237 Stephanie St., Suites A, B and C, in Henderson, to Henry's American Grill for $1.2 million. Burnett again represented the company in its three-year lease of 3,833 square feet at 1550 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suites I, J and K, in Henderson, to Cielo Salon and Spa for $263,013. Burnett also represented the company in its three-year lease of 1,400 square feet at 229 Stephanie St., Suite A, in Henderson, to Fausto's Mexican Food for $103,854.

-- David Fordham of Re/Max Absolute represented both parties in Laddie Donald Sixth Co.'s 60-month lease of 1,450 square feet at 5330 W. Flamingo Road to Sports Consultants for $138,600.

-- Larry Singer of Coldwell Banker Commercial ETN represented Las Vegas Events in its five-year lease of 4,321 square feet at 770 E. Warm Springs Road, Suite 140, from McCarran Center, represented by Mark Bouchard, for $559,000. Singer also represented The Richardson Partnership in its 60-month lease of 3,679 square feet at 815 Pilot Road from Stoltz Realty for $244,100. In another transaction, Ed Bassford represented William R. Smith, dba H&R Block, in his five-year lease of 1,500 square feet at Center Point Plaza, Building C, Suite 9, at the northeast corner of Town Center Drive and Charleston Boulevard, from Center Point Plaza, represented by Sandy Ray of Signature Properties, for $200,685. Mike Belnick represented Summer Villas at Belzar in its sale of a four-plex at 2217 James Bilbray Drive to Corazon Viena, Amelia Abalos, Jose Abalos, Antonio Viana and Laura Viana, represented by Edie Creiger of Liberty Realty, for $359,900.

-- CB Richard Ellis' Al Barbagallo represented the Maria Ferra Marital Trust in the purchase of a 2,282-square-foot building at 4717 W. Charleston Blvd. from Jerry Polis for $1.3 million. In another transaction, Donna Alderson and Jeremy Green represented Jackson Shaw/ Warm Springs III in its five-year lease of 8,014 square feet at 7540 S. Industrial Road to UNICA for $400,000. Suzette LaGrange represented Green Valley Development in its five-year lease of 1,705 square feet at 2275 Corporate Circle Drive to Tom R. Grimmett for $220,000. Brad Peterson and LaGrange represented Wells Fargo Bank in its five-year lease of 4,591 square feet at 4425 W. Spring Mountain Road to Brown & Caldwell for $510,000.

-- E. John Sweetland of Sweetland Industrial Realty represented both parties in SIH No. 2's five-year lease of 7,950 square feet at 4377 W. Sunset Road to Norwalk Furniture for $392,484.

-- Scott Peterson of Nevada Land Commercial Real Estate represented Land Exchange Accommodators in its sale of 5 acres at the northeast corner of Carnegie and Dillard streets, in Henderson, to American Land Holdings for $500,000. Peterson also represented Verlyn Partnership in its sale of 2,300 square feet at 501 E. Twain Ave. to Gilbert Levy Trust, represented by Augie Bustos of Realty Executives, for $1 million.

-- GVA Industrial Property Group's Xavier Wasiak and Kim Friedman represented Artwoods Cabinetry in the sale of a 4,410-square-foot building at 3824 Civic Center Drive, in North Las Vegas, to Las Vegas Trike for $335,000. Wasiak and Friedman also represented Cassia Way in its three-year lease of 2,240 square feet at 175 Cassia Way, in Henderson, to Rainbow International for $57,005.

-- David Flynn and Charles W. Witters of Lee and Associates represented Park Place in its 24-month lease of 3,090 square feet at 5820 S. Pecos Road to Coast to Coast USA for $137,203. Flynn also represented Leo Falkensammer in his 65-month lease of 2,947 square feet at 6707 E. Charleston Blvd. to Pearl Dentistry, represented by Mark Gaushan of Nevada Real Estate Corp., for $315,653. Witters represented both parties in Siena IV Holding's 120-month lease of 15,110 square feet at 2825 Siena Heights Drive, in Henderson, to Southwest Medical Associates for $4.2 million.

-- Colliers International's Dave Frear represented Young Electric Sign Co. in its 120-month lease of 2.27 acres at 4770 W. Reno Ave. from Red for $1.6 million. Frear also represented TLD Acquisition in its 63-month lease of 20,084 square feet at 4375 S. Valley View Blvd., Suite G, from Jerrold D. Monkarsh for $620,718. Tom Stilley, Lizz Schafer and Jayne Cayton represented Rainbow Diablo in its 60-month lease of 2,278 square feet at 5495 S. Rainbow Blvd. to MedCap Corp. for $273,005. Stilley, Schafer and Cayton also represented Siena Office Park 2 in its 60-month lease of 13,732 square feet at 871 Coronado Center Drive, in Henderson, to Siena Executive Suites for $1.6 million. Scott Gragson, John Kilpatrick and Robert Torres represented GKT Acquisitions in its sale of 19.4 acres at the northeast corner of Patrick Lane and Riley Street to Vaso Boreta for $2.6 million.
