Harrison Landscape's drought-resistant options vary
Harrison Landscape Co. is available to assist area homeowners comply with current water restrictions. The company's services include the installation of both xeriscape landscapes and artificial turf, as well as converting yards to include decking, pavers, fireplaces, barbecue areas, wrought-iron arbors and fire pits. The family-owned business was established in 1997. "The artificial turf is perfect for the homeowner who doesn't want to give up that `sod' look in their yard," Don Harrison, company president, said. "Even with just a small patch of the pseudo-grass, the yard takes on a completely different image than if that same patch was covered with rock." Artificial turf costs between $8 to $12 per square foot, according to Harrison. "Subtract the time and money one saves for mowing and edging, fertilizers and watering, and you have a pretty good saving over a 12-month period. Plus, your lawn stays green all year long." The company also contracts with home builders to design and install water-efficient front yards, including some that incorporate artificial turf with rocks and others that use plants as an alternative to sod. Harrison Landscape Co. has been certified by the Southern Nevada Water Authority as a Water Smart Contractor. Harrison Landscape and its sister company, Harrison Door Co., are both located in Henderson.
