Manufactured housing group meets in town

The ninth annual National Manufactured Housing Congress will showcase the industry's newest products and services this week with about 170 exhibits.
The event, sponsored by the Manufactured Housing Institute, will be held Tuesday through Thursday at Caesars Palace. About 2,200 industry professionals are expected to attend, according to Gub Mix, executive director of the Nevada Manufactured Housing Association.
"The exhibit area has become the focal point of the entire Congress," Mix said. "It's a place where deals are started." marketing decisions are made, and products and services are purchased by leading firms of the industry."
Nearly two dozen workshops will target retailers, manufacturers, lenders, contractors.
The event is titled "Embracing the Millennium," and will address such topics as The Power Generation: Boomers and the New Millennium, The Urban Design Experience, The Public's Perception of Manufactured Homes, Creating a Marketing Strategy, The Next Generation of Manufactured Housing, and Sales and Lending Practices.
Scheduled speakers include Lad Dawson, chairman of the Manufactured Housing Institute. Andrew Cuomo, secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, will deliver a pre-recorded video address.
The 1998 Manufactured Housing National Awards ceremony also will be held.
