Former Chicagoans make new friends at Sun City Aliante
Moving to Del Webb's age-qualified Sun City Aliante community in North Las Vegas saved Mickie and Sandy Hollander from dealing with another cold, snowy winter in Chicago. "Even though all of our family still lives in the Chicago area, with the exception of one daughter in New York, we decided to move to Las Vegas and Sun City Aliante at the suggestion of our best friends, Josette and Don Saingold, who live in Summerlin," Mickie Hollander said. "We've met so many new friends and families from all over the country at Sun City Aliante. Most of their families live out of state as well, so we have that in common." They purchased a 1,424-square-foot Primrose design. "The Primrose has everything we could have asked for in a new home," she said. The floor plan features three bedrooms, two baths, a great room, dining room, kitchen nook and two-car garage. A patio is optional. Six additional single-story designs measuring from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet are available. Homes are priced from the mid-$290,000s to the mid-$420,000s and include front- and rear-yard landscaping. Homes are constructed with the builder's Environments for Living technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and cocoon insulation. In addition to being recognized as Energy Star homes by the Environmental Protection Agency, they offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee. Sandy Hollander, a tax consultant, is busy working this time of the year, while Mickie Hollander enjoys bocce, bunco and teaching fellow residents the card game kaluki, which is similar to gin rummy. Amenities include tennis and bocce courts, while a recreation center, swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms are planned. In addition, the public Aliante Golf Club offers an 18-hole, 6,900-yard, par-72 course. Sun City Aliante is the age-qualified component of the Aliante master plan. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go north. The sales office and models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and until 6 p.m. daily starting Sunday. Del Webb, a subsidiary of Pulte Homes, also offers the age-qualified Sun City Anthem and Solera at Anthem communities in Henderson.
