Authority seeks top landscapes

The Southern Nevada Water Authority is accepting entries for its 2004 Landscape Awards.

Open to homeowners and professional landscapers, the awards program recognizes landscapes that feature water-smart plants and materials.

All of the projects must be located within the Water Authority's service area of Boulder City, Henderson, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Laughlin and unincorporated Clark County.

A panel of local garden and landscape experts will judge entries based on water-efficiency, functionality and beauty. Categories include both landscape design and maintenance.

To enter the free competition, submit an application online or by mail with four or five color photos highlighting the landscape design and water-smart features.

Applications are due April 30 and available online at www.snwa.com or by calling 258-SAVE.

Winners will be announced during an awards ceremony in July.

The Water Authority is a regional agency that manages water conservation, water quality and water resources. Member agencies are Big Bend Water District in Laughlin; the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and Boulder City; the Clark County Water Reclamation District; and the Las Vegas Valley Water District.
