Siena retirees remain fit
Rose and James Stasiak, residents of the age-qualified community of Siena in Summerlin, stay in shape together. The retirees swim and golf together, and go to the community's health and fitness center faithfully four or five times a week. "We keep each other motivated," Rose Stasiak said. "We were both very dedicated to our careers and to raising our six children. Now we like being free to do what we want. And after 40 years of marriage, we still enjoy each other's company." She said one reason they are able to keep active is that the guard-gated community's amenities are within walking distance. "You don't have the hassle of fighting traffic and parking," Stasiak said. The 665-acre property will feature a network of walking trails in addition to a European-style promenade that passes by the golf course's lake and waterfalls. One-third of the community's 1,900 homes will be located along the 18-hole, par-72 golf course, designed by Schmidt-Curley. Ranging from 4,941 yards from the forward tees to 6,816 yards from the back tees, it is open to all ages on a daily-fee basis. Siena residents are given preferred rates and tee times. The Stasiaks also frequent the community's 12,000-square-foot social center, which is used for a variety of classes, clubs and planned activities such as theme parties and dances. "We love Siena. As it grows, there are just that many more interesting new people to meet," Stasiak said. Developed by Sunrise Colony Co., the community offers 14 single-story floor plans, priced from the mid-$160,000s to more than $650,000 and ranging from 1,200 to 3,100 square feet. Choices of design options are available. To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south. The models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
