Siena houses day spa, salon

The age-qualified Siena community features its own hair salon and day spa in Summerlin. Destination Salon and Spa, located in the community's health and fitness center, also offers therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology, natural body treatments and aromatherapy.

"We think we've taken the age-qualified master plan to a new level," general manager John Holden said.

"Because it is being developed by Sunrise Colony Co., which has been designing country club communities for more than 30 years, Siena has amenities more commonly found at an American golf community or a European resort spa. Siena also has all the benefits of an age-qualified community, such as planned activities at the social center."

Pat Franchina, a retired federal employee from California, takes advantage of the salon and social center.

"I love having a beauty salon so close. It's very convenient. And ... I like having places like the social center to meet other people in the community," said Franchina, who enjoys playing cards and attending community parties at the facility. "It's also good knowing there is a guarded gate."

Security guards also patrol the neighborhoods on a 24-hour basis and perform house checks for residents who are not home.

The community's fitness center has cardiovascular and weight rooms, saunas, steam rooms, and a swim pavilion with an indoor pool and a spa. Its two-story windows overlook the community's 18-hole championship golf course, outdoor pool and spa, lighted tennis courts and bocce courts.

Summerlin Hospital Medical Center's on-site wellness center provides resources, including nutrition seminars, health screenings, and a video and literature library.

The single-story community offers 14 Mediterranean-style floor plans, ranging from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet and priced from the $160,000s to more than $650,000.

The community is bordered on the north by West Flamingo Road, on the east by Hualapai Way, and on the west by Town Center Drive. The southern boundary is near Russell Road.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south. The model-home village is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
