Seven Hills residents enjoy high-flying fun

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Kites of all shapes, sizes and colors filled the air last Saturday as the Seven Hills Builders sponsored the second annual Kite Day event. The festival at the Seven Hills community in Henderson drew an estimated 1,500 people.

Participants of all ages descended upon Sonata Park to fly kites that ranged from creative homemade designs to a serpentine-shaped kite that measured more than 100 feet in length. The event also featured kite competitions and flying demonstrations, balloon artists, face painters, music and games.

The builders gave away a number of kites at the event, and more than 1,000 kites were presented to pupils at Elise L. Wolff Elementary School, which recently opened in Seven Hills. In addition, they pledged $5 for each kite that was assembled and flown by a pupil from the school -- to a maximum of $2,500.

Prizes were awarded in 10 categories, including Highest Flying Kite, Best Trick Kite and Longest Flying Kite. The Best of Show winner received a family pass to a local water park.

Community development executive Dan Naef said Seven Hills and its developer, Silver Canyon Partnership, were delighted to host the event.

"Sonata Park is a perfect venue for an event like Kite Day, with its spacious lawn areas, hilly terrain and scenic city and mountain views," he said. "This kind of event is particularly gratifying, as it not only promotes fun for our homeowners, but it benefits our local students as well."

The community features an Italian Renaissance and Spanish eclectic theme highlighted by open space and deciduous trees. The theme is evident in various neighborhood entries, which are accented by columns, arches and fountains. In addition, many home exteriors display vaulted entrances, front and rear balconies, arched windows, capstones and gabled roof lines.

Buyers can tour dozens of model homes and choose from more than 45 floor plans, which are priced from the $130,000s to about $350,000. Custom-home sites are priced from about $190,000 to more than $1 million.

Neighborhoods open for sales are: Renaissance and Crescendo by Pardee Homes; Capistrano, Palermo West and Naples by Kimball Hill Homes; Palazzo Monte by U.S. Home; Meridiana by Trident Homes; the Venezia and Terracina custom neighborhoods by Silver Canyon Partnership; and Corcovado and Portofino Custom Homesites by Nevastar Investment Corp. Villa Villagi by Astoria Homes is planned.

The information and sales pavilion is located just inside the community on Seven Hills Drive, which is about a half mile west of the Eastern Avenue and St. Rose Parkway intersection. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
