Contractors plan desert clean-up

The Las Vegas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors will hold its seventh annual Operation Desert Clean-Up on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in the northwestern valley.

A 50-acre parcel has been selected for this year's clean-up efforts, bordered by Rampart Boulevard, Vegas Drive, Durango Drive and Washington Avenue, where organizers estimate that about 300 tons of illegally discarded and windblown debris will be cleared.

Volunteers will receive T-shirts, water bottles and a barbecue lunch.

To participate, take Summerlin Parkway to Rampart Boulevard, go north and turn east on Vegas Drive, following the signs. For more information, call the contractors association at 796-9986.
