Homeowner turns to Rolladens for comfort

When Joel Loaiza bought a two-story home in the southwestern valley, he was concerned as to what his cooling and heating costs would be. That's when he called Rolladen Rolling Shutters.

The shutters can reduce power bills by as much as 64 percent, according to the manufacturer, and are made of roll-filled aluminum slats. They are custom made and available in a variety of colors.

Sixteen windows on Loaiza's 2,000-square-foot home are equipped with the shutters. He says his home is cool in summer, warm in winter and dark enough to allow day sleeping.

Installation is usually complete within 7 to 10 days after measurements have been taken, according to local Rolladen franchise owner, Fran Minnozzi.

"Fran was very patient with me," Loaiza said. "She lets the product sell itself."

The shutters are also suitable for commercial use.

The showroom is at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd., just west of Jones Boulevard. It is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment on Saturday.
