Ardiente offers 'lock-and-leave' living

Ardiente, an age-qualified village by Centex Homes in North Las Vegas, offers a guard-gated environment.

"Our goal is to offer our residents the ability to lock the front door and leave town for a month without worrying," said Jody Turner, area construction manager. "That lock-and-leave lifestyle is perfect for our age-qualified residents."

Turner said a security officer is stationed at the front gate, while another officer roams the neighborhood.

"One of the standard items in our homes is a 911 locator switch, which is just below the switch for the front lights. If someone has an emergency, just flip the switch and the lights will blink on and off," Turner said. "The roving security guard will see the lights flashing and will contact the front gate to call 911."

The homes are also prewired for an alarm system.

A clubhouse has been completed, and the furniture is being installed.

"The exercise equipment is in and Caren Carrero, the activities director, is meeting with our new residents and forming classes," Turner said. "Several buyers have moved in and the neighborhood is taking shape."

Outside the clubhouse will be a bocce court, tennis courts and putting greens.

Turner said the company's concept of "spot building" has been well-received by buyers.

"With spot building, a buyer has the option of putting any one of four homes ranging from 1,235 to 1,802 square feet on any lot within the Ardiente Aventura enclave, or any of four homes ranging from 1,801 to 2,352 square feet within the Ardiente Cielo enclave," he said. "This gives more immediacy to someone who wants to buy a home but doesn't want to wait for a new release to get the floor plan they want, which is the way most builders plan their neighborhoods."

Eight floor plans are available, measuring 1,235 to 2,353 square feet with two or three bedrooms and two baths. Prices start from $288,500.

To visit, take the Las Vegas Beltway to Losee Road, go south to Tropical Parkway, turn east and proceed to Horizon Estates Drive. The models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Mondays, when they open at noon.
